Job Title: Senior Studio Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Studio Engineer to join our team at Gordon Murray Group. As a key member of our styling team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our vehicle styling is developed and matured, aligned with engineering requirements, and meets the highest standards of quality and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Styling Surface Data Management: Control and manage styling surface data, registering and issuing it to engineering teams using company processes, and communicating with project team members to ensure alignment with engineering design.
  • Styling Design Management: Record and manage styling design, including 'WIP model' surface development feasibility status, using 'Exterior & Interior Studio surface release plan' documents to maintain a theme/model-specific feasibility status tracker.
  • Document Management: Raise necessary company documents to obtain approval signatures, ensuring that styling data is formally released within the company once aligned with relevant engineering groups.
  • Communication and Representation: Work as a window person to communicate and represent issues between styling teams, engineering groups, and suppliers on styling matters.
  • Component Understanding: Have a full understanding of components classified as styling responsible.
  • Meeting Coordination: Initiate and conduct meetings to support activities as required.
  • Technical Solutions: Provide high-quality and imaginative technical solutions to meet styling team requirements, under the guidance of a styling team when necessary.
  • Team Support: Contribute to and support activities that the styling team requires to drive, such as colour and material finish of the vehicle.
  • Audit Support: Liaise with engineering, vehicle architect, and project management to ensure technical targets, program timings, and budgetary requirements are met.
  • Scheduling: Schedule own activities to provide styling deliverables that meet required specifications within timescales and budgets.
  • Presentation: Present styling design status internally to the company, project manager, and gateway reviews.
Requirements:
  • Program Engineering/Management Experience: Extensive experience in automotive projects, including PPAP, PSW, and Control Plans.
  • Styling and Engineering Design Techniques: Extensive knowledge of styling and engineering design techniques and processes, including some fundamental manufacturing technologies.
  • Software Skills: Knowledge of CATIA / CATIA viewer or equivalent.
