Job Title: Senior Studio Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Studio Engineer to join our team at Gordon Murray Group. As a key member of our styling team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our vehicle styling is developed and matured in alignment with engineering requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Control styling surface data by registering and issuing to engineering using company process, and communicating with project team members to ensure engineering design is aligned with styling.
  • Record and manage styling design, including 'WIP model' surface development feasibility status, using 'Exterior & Interior Studio surface release plan' documents to maintain a theme/model specific (Red, Amber, Green) Studio Engineering feasibility status tracker.
  • Raise necessary company documents to obtain approval signatures, ensuring styling data is formally released within the company once aligned with relevant engineering groups.
  • Work as a window person to communicate and represent issues between styling team, engineering groups, and suppliers on styling matters.
  • Have a full understanding of components classified as styling responsible.
  • Initiate and conduct meetings to support activities as required.
  • Provide high-quality and imaginative technical solutions to meet Styling team requirements, under the guidance of a styling team when necessary.
  • Contribute to and support activities that drive Styling team requirements, such as colour and material finish of the vehicle.
  • Liaise with engineering, vehicle architect, and Project Management to ensure technical targets, program timings, and budgetary requirements are met.
  • Schedule own activities to provide styling deliverables that meet required specifications within timescales and budgets.
  • Present styling design status internally to the company, project manager, and gateway reviews.
Requirements:
  • Extensive programme engineering/management experience in automotive projects, including PPAP, PSW, and Control Plans.
  • Extensive knowledge of styling and engineering design techniques and processes, including some fundamental manufacturing technologies.
  • Knowledge of CATIA / CATIA viewer or equivalent.
