Job Title: Senior Studio Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Studio Engineer to join our team at Gordon Murray Group. As a key member of our styling team, you will be responsible for ensuring the vehicle interior and exterior styling continues to be developed and matured from a technical and creative design perspective.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Control styling surface data by registering and issuing to engineering using company process, and communicate to project team members to ensure engineering design is aligned to styling.
  • Record and manage styling design - 'WIP model' surface development feasibility status using 'Exterior & Interior Studio surface release plan' documents to maintain a theme/model specific (Red, Amber, Green) Studio Engineering feasibility status tracker.
  • Raise necessary company documents to obtain approval signatures to formally release styling data within the company once data is aligned with relevant engineering groups.
  • Work as a window person to communicate and represent any issues between styling team, engineering groups such as aero dynamics and vehicle architect, in some cases with suppliers on styling matters.
  • Have full understanding of components which are classed as styling responsible.
  • Initiate and conduct meetings to support activities as may be required.
  • Provide high quality and imaginative technical solutions to meet Styling team requirements, under the guidance of a styling team when necessary.
  • Contribute to and support activities that the Styling team require to drive – such as colour and material finish of the vehicle.
  • Liaise with engineering, vehicle architect and Project Management to ensure technical targets, program timings and budgetary requirements are met.
  • Schedule own activities to provide styling deliverables that meet required specifications within timescales and budgets.
  • Present styling design status internally to the company – project manager and gateway reviews.
Requirements:
  • Extensive programme engineering/management experience in automotive projects, including PPAP, PSW and Control Plans.
  • Extensive knowledge of styling and engineering design techniques and processes including some fundamental manufacturing technologies.
  • Knowledge of CATIA / CATIA viewer or equivalent.
