Job Description

Gordon Murray Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Studio Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our styling department, you will be responsible for ensuring that our vehicle styling is developed and matured in alignment with engineering requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Styling Surface Data Management: Control and manage styling surface data, ensuring that it is registered and issued to engineering teams in a timely manner.
  • Styling Design Management: Record and manage styling design progress, using 'Exterior & Interior Studio surface release plan' documents to track feasibility status.
  • Document Control: Raise necessary company documents to obtain approval signatures, ensuring that styling data is formally released within the company.
  • Communication and Representation: Work as a liaison between styling teams, engineering groups, and suppliers, communicating and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Component Understanding: Have a thorough understanding of components classified as styling responsible.
  • Meeting Coordination: Initiate and conduct meetings to support activities as required.
  • Technical Solutions: Provide high-quality, imaginative technical solutions to meet styling team requirements.
  • Team Support: Contribute to and support activities that drive the styling team's objectives, such as color and material finishes.
  • Audit Support: Support internal and external audits with other members of the styling team.
  • Project Coordination: Liaise with engineering, vehicle architect, and project management teams to ensure technical targets, program timings, and budgetary requirements are met.
  • Deliverable Scheduling: Schedule own activities to provide styling deliverables that meet required specifications within timescales and budgets.
  • Design Status Presentation: Present styling design status internally to the company, including project manager and gateway reviews.
Requirements
  • Program Engineering/Management Experience: Extensive experience in automotive projects, including PPAP, PSW, and Control Plans.
  • Styling and Engineering Design Techniques: Extensive knowledge of styling and engineering design techniques and processes, including fundamental manufacturing technologies.
  • Software Proficiency: Knowledge of CATIA / CATIA viewer or equivalent.
