We are seeking a skilled interpreter to join our team at Language Empire, based in Swansea. As an experienced linguist, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between individuals who speak different languages.

As an interpreter, your primary responsibility will be to translate spoken language from one language to another with 100% accuracy. You will work with clients across various sectors, including the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation, and other public and private organisations.

This is a freelance position that offers flexibility and autonomy. You will have the opportunity to choose from a range of assignments that fit your schedule and expertise.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as strong organisational and time management abilities. Proficiency in English and another language is essential, and formal qualifications such as a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) or Community Interpreting are highly desirable.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting for clients
  • Liaising between service users and providers to ensure effective communication
  • Verifying the understanding of non-English speakers after each sentence

In return for your expertise, you can expect a competitive salary ranging from £20 to £30 per hour, depending on your experience and the type of assignment. This rate is reflective of the importance of your role in facilitating communication between individuals who speak different languages.
