Job Summary

The Paediatric Diabetes Service at The Diabetes Times is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paediatric Diabetes Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering specialist clinical diabetes services to children and young people with diabetes and their families.

Main Responsibilities
  • Organise and plan the day-to-day management of the Diabetes Team caseload, ensuring the individual needs of children and young people are met.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop effective relationships and provide high-quality nursing care.
  • Identify and manage risks to patients and staff, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Provide line management, education, and training to colleagues, promoting professional development and growth.
  • Develop and monitor quality initiatives to ensure the delivery of quality nursing care, in line with the Clinical Governance framework and Best Practice Tariff.
  • Work strategically to influence the development of the service both locally and regionally.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in paediatric diabetes nursing, with a strong understanding of clinical diabetes services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, young people, and their families.
  • Ability to multitask and work flexibly, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and support colleagues.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives, with the ability to develop and implement effective quality initiatives.
