Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join our team at Wayman Learning Trust. This full-time role is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting students' emotional wellbeing.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide essential support to students facing emotional and mental health challenges. They will play a key part in helping students navigate their emotional landscape, fostering resilience, and promoting wellbeing within the school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them develop coping strategies, improve self-esteem, and enhance their emotional regulation skills.
  • Collaborate closely with the SEN and pastoral teams to create tailored support plans that address the unique needs of students, ensuring a holistic approach to their wellbeing.
  • Engage in regular communication with teachers, parents, and external agencies to monitor student progress and provide ongoing support as needed.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Previous experience in mental health support, pastoral care, or a related field, preferably within an educational setting.
  • A compassionate and calm approach to sensitive issues, with the ability to create a safe and trusting environment for students to express their feelings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication and collaboration with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to the varying needs of students in different emotional states.
  • A current and clear Enhanced DBS check, which is essential to ensure the safety and security of all students.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
