About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Secretary to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to consultants and their teams, ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to consultants and their teams, including diary management, correspondence, and data entry.
  • Manage consultant waiting lists, including arranging admissions and ensuring timely communication with patients and clinicians.
  • Ensure accurate and timely transcription of clinical correspondence and documentation.
  • Provide a comprehensive service to consultants and speciality teams, including nurse practitioners and clinicians.
  • Keep track of referrals, ensuring patients are reviewed promptly and follow-up appointments are arranged as necessary.
  • Support consultants in non-clinical activities, including preparing presentation documents and arranging meetings.
  • Maintain an effective filing system and ensure all clinical correspondence is acted upon in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience working in an NHS office environment as a medical secretary or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with audio typing skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
