Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Engineer to join our Additive Manufacturing Team based in Coventry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical delivery of projects and will support the development of project-related activities across The MTC, working across various technology departments and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake innovative engineering research work focused on technology/manufacturing readiness levels (TRL/MRL) 3+, and demonstrate industrial project delivery.
  • Contribute to the identification, technical specification, and delivery of new and novel technology capability into The MTC, customers, or industrial members' premises.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards, technical support of commissioning, and awareness of project budget and deliverables.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate who is/has:

  • A degree-calibre engineer, technologist, scientist, or mathematician.
  • Ideal experience with a range of Additive Manufacturing processes spanning both polymers and metals (laser powder bed fusion) in industrial and/or academic settings.
  • Downstream processing of AM parts including post-processing, finishing, inspection, and testing.
  • A good understanding of material/process interactions within Additive Manufacturing processes.

Desirable Experience/Skills

  • Design for AM methodologies and generating build files for a selection of AM processes (including support strategies).
  • In-process monitoring technologies for AM.
