Job Title: Specialist Physiotherapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Physiotherapist to join our Community Stroke Rehabilitation team in County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality stroke rehabilitation services to patients in their own homes and outpatient settings.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive neuro assessments with patients in their own environments, identifying goals and creating exercise programs to optimize rehabilitation.
  • Supervise and contribute to the development of clinical activities within the team, ensuring effective use of resources and adherence to clinical governance procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to maximize rehabilitation potential and ensure understanding of patient conditions.
  • Participate in the clinical governance procedures, including the prompt recording and reporting of incidents, equipment defects, and first-line management of informal complaints.
  • Deputize for the Band 7 clinical lead therapist in terms of operational issues when required.
Requirements:
  • Comprehensive and relevant qualified experience in physical rehabilitation, including recent general rehabilitation experience.
  • Experience of collaborative working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Evidence of communication skills within a wide variety of settings.
  • Ability to travel and carry small items of equipment on a daily basis to fulfill the requirements of the post.
  • HCPC registered Physiotherapist.
  • BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
Desirable:
  • Experience in staff appraisal.
  • Experience in working in a variety of settings.
  • Experience of crisis management.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the post.
  • Commitment, motivation, and ability to work flexibly within a multidisciplinary service.
  • Member of CSP.
