About Us

Mind BLMK is a leading mental health charity working across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. We have a workforce of around 90 people and a small infrastructure to support us to deliver our valuable services to the community.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of HR to lead our HR function. This is a permanent position with a salary of approximately £46,000 per annum.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR within Mind BLMK. This includes developing and implementing HR strategies, processes and services aligned with our overall strategy and vision.

The Head of HR will lead the HR function and team, and be a pro-active member of the Executive team. They will also be responsible for monitoring, updating and advising staff and managers on HR policies and procedures.

Additionally, the Head of HR will manage the production of relevant and timely information for managers and the Board of Trustees. They will also ensure the monthly payroll process is completed.

Some of the key responsibilities of the Head of HR include:

  1. Developing and implementing HR strategies, processes and services
  2. Leading the HR function and team
  3. Being a pro-active member of the Executive team
  4. Monitoring, updating and advising staff and managers on HR policies and procedures
  5. Managing the production of relevant and timely information for managers and the Board of Trustees
  6. Ensuring the monthly payroll process is completed
  7. Overseeing recruitment, selection, onboarding and retention of staff and volunteers
  8. Annual staff appraisal and staff survey processes
  9. Reviewing and consulting on the provision of wellbeing support for staff
  10. Implementation and delivery of the learning and development plan
  11. Providing professional, timely and accurate HR advice
  12. Keeping up to date with developments in employment related legislation
  13. Maintaining an effective workforce for the HR department
Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will need to have significant experience in managing talent acquisition, employee development, compensation and benefits and employee relations. Minimum 2 years' experience of strategic and hands on HR leadership is required.

The ideal candidate will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, managers and stakeholders.

A strong understanding of employment law and best practice is essential, as well as the ability to think strategically and make informed decisions.
