Position Summary

As a key member of the Mediabrands team, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Strategy Officer to lead our EMEA region. This is a unique opportunity to drive innovation, positioning, and new business across the region, working closely with the President of UM EMEA and the Leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

External/Client

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their key business challenges and opportunities, and delivering tailored solutions to meet their goals.
  • Lead the development of award-winning work, setting high standards and driving excellence across the region.
  • Present to C-level client contacts, confidently communicating complex ideas and strategies.
  • Develop and execute thought leadership initiatives, showcasing our expertise and driving industry recognition.
  • Identify strategic issues and develop analytical and strategic skills to address them, ensuring our clients' success.
  • Oversee strategic responses for critical clients, from briefing to final document.
  • Collaborate with clients and the wider agency to transform their media needs and operationalize multi-market structures.

Internal

  • Represent the strategy function in the UM EMEA regional leadership team, driving strategic direction and decision-making.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing strategy team, setting examples of best practices and motivating them to deliver innovative thinking.
  • Ensure the UM EMEA Strategy team continues to pioneer and develop world-class talent, driving excellence and innovation.
  • Recruit and motivate resources, creating a powerful and diverse team.
  • Create a compelling UM EMEA story, look, and feel, driving disruption and provocation.
  • Deliver strategies with insight, audience, and targeting information, driving first thoughts and a point of view on strategic platforms and communications architecture.
  • Work to continuously refine, train, and embed UM's process and capabilities, ensuring best-in-class industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the audience, research, and analytics function to define a robust measurement and learning plan, optimizing media plans.

Commercial

  • Work closely with the Business Development team to develop innovative pitch-winning strategies, driving revenue growth and new business opportunities.
  • Contribute to Agency and Client revenue opportunities, improving strategic output and positioning the strategy team to drive new products and services.
  • Lead the strategy function in new business pitches, driving success and growth.
  • Collaborate with key client business partners to pilot, refine, productize, and sell in new or evolved strategy capabilities, positioning strategy as a growth driver.
Desired Skills & Experience

We are seeking a progressive, strategic, and critical thinker with a passion for client engagement, identifying real solutions and insights that make a difference. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of the ever-changing media and digital landscape, with a point of view on trends driving the industry. They will possess a passion for people and experience in team management and leadership, with good attention to detail and a thorough approach to delivering products, projects, and services. A strong communicator and skilled storyteller, the candidate will set the bar high for themselves and their team, bringing diverse groups together to define a single end-to-end solution. Highly developed business acumen, solid commercial, strategic, and analytical skills are essential, as is tenacity and a relentless drive to succeed, never backing down from a challenge. Ideally, the candidate will have multi-market experience, but this is not essential.
