Senior Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our Hs2 team in the Midlands. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in managing the engineering aspects of our projects, ensuring that works are constructed to the highest standards and in accordance with contract drawings, specifications, and plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the engineering aspects of projects, including the design, construction, and testing of civil engineering structures.
  • Lead a team of site and trainee engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure that projects are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions to complex problems, working closely with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all engineering activities are carried out in accordance with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other teams to identify and mitigate risks, and to develop and implement strategies to improve project delivery.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Senior Engineer in a civil engineering contractor, with a strong background in reinforced concrete structures, heavy civils, bridges, structures, basements, tunnels, culverts, frames, tanks, formwork, and falsework systems.
  • Good knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works, with experience in managing site and trainee engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering and specification for highway works.
  • Commercially aware and experienced in working in a cost-conscious environment.
  • Excellent communication, people, and team management skills, with the ability to speak up on HSEQ matters and lead by example.
  • Proficiency in design software, such as AutoCad, Autodesk, and Sketchup.
  • Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, with membership of the Institute of Civil Engineers or working towards.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS certification, with a valid CSCS card.
  • Full UK driving licence.
