Job Summary
We are looking for a Part-time Patient Advisor to work in our Leicester City surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system, processing personal and telephone appointments, and providing excellent customer service to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Process personal and telephone appointments, including internal and external appointments.
- Answer incoming phone calls, transfer calls, or deal with caller requests appropriately.
- Signpost patients to the correct service or department.
- Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies.
- Read code data on SystmOne and input data into patient healthcare records as necessary.
- Photocopy documentation as required and maintain a clean and tidy working area.
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
- Support clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
- Scanning of patient-related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient healthcare records.
- Deal with repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Check fridge temperature, deal with vaccinations according to cold chain policy, and handle patient samples.
- Process referrals as doctors require and process all posts.
- Recall patients to support QOF performance and register and deduct patients, pulling out and filing medical notes.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
- Inform staff who orders stationery supplies and monitor the stock.
Person Specification
- Essential:
- GCSE level or equivalent.
- Experience of working with the general public.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong IT skills.
- Clear, polite telephone manner.
- Competent in the use of Office and Outlook.
