Job Summary

We are seeking a Part-time Patient Adviser to join our team at Highfield Surgery in Leicester City. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system, processing personal and telephone appointments, and providing excellent customer service to patients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
  • Processing personal and telephone appointments
  • Answering incoming phone calls and transferring calls or dealing with callers' requests appropriately
  • Signposting patients to the correct service
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies
  • Reading code data on SystmOne
  • Photocopying documentation as required
  • Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
  • Inputting data into patients' healthcare records as necessary
  • Directing requests for information, such as SAR, insurance, and solicitors' letters, and DVLA forms to the administrative team
  • Managing all queries in an efficient manner
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and effective working area at all times
  • Monitoring and maintaining the reception area and notice boards
  • Supporting all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
  • Scanning patient-related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients' healthcare records, dealing with document workflow
  • Dealing with repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently
  • Checking fridge temperature, dealing with vaccinations according to the cold chain policy
  • Handling patient samples
  • Processing referrals as doctors require
  • Processing all posts
  • Recalling patients to support QOF performance
  • Registering and deducting patients, pulling out and filing medical notes

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Completing opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
  • Informing staff who order stationery supplies and monitoring the stock

Qualifications

  • GCSE level or equivalent
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong IT skills
  • Clear, polite telephone manner
  • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
