About the Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Clinical Psychologist to lead our Psychology provision in North Community Team. This senior position will involve line management, clinical supervision, and overseeing the psychology waiting list.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of Psychology provision within the team, working closely with the Clinical Team Manager, discipline leads, and Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • Communicate complex information sensitively and effectively to multidisciplinary teams, care partners, and service users, who may present with challenging behaviours.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical records, preparing reports for internal use and external agencies, while ensuring good communication with referrers and professionals involved.
  • Liaise with outside agencies and professionals, convening multi-professional and multi-agency meetings as needed.
  • Lead on safeguarding and risk management within the team, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all.
  • Drive quality, safety, and continuous improvement of services provided to service users and their families.

Requirements

Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters level qualification in clinical area of practice or equivalent.
  • Core training as a Psychologist acquired to postgraduate doctoral degree level or equivalent knowledge.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Evidence of further specialist training in psychological treatments.
  • Postgraduate clinical or management qualification, such as CYP or IAPT.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of working with client populations.
  • Strong track record of managing complexity and risk while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
  • Experience of working within a specialist psychological therapist service with expertise in managing complex mental presentations.
  • Experience of delivering service delivery targets.
  • Assessment and treatment of presenting problems in client populations.
  • Contributing to Quality Improvement initiatives.

Skills

Essential

  • Assessing and communicating complex client conditions and applying clinical treatments.
  • Clinical Psychologists: Proven experience conducting psychometric tests, interviews, and observations when assessing clients.
  • Managing clinical caseloads and providing oversight of others within the team.
  • Contribution to service development through financial initiatives and income generation.
  • Computer literacy, keyboard skills for writing reports, and clinical case notes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, credibility with clinicians and managers.
  • Personal duty of care in equipment used in clinical practice.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrating sound judgement and using own initiative.
  • NHS access targets and data requirements.
  • Safeguarding and risk management at a high level.
  • Health and safety, risk management, modernisation, and clinical governance.
  • Familiarity with recent political trends in healthcare.
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams for positive outcomes.
  • Formulating high-quality treatment plans.
