Health and Safety Manager

Job Summary
BYK Additives Ltd. (UK) is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to lead and support line management in ensuring the necessary Health & Safety standards are met across the BYK UK site.
The role will involve promoting a positive safety culture, developing and driving H&S performance, and interacting with site operational and maintenance personnel to ensure the safe completion of all activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Environmental Manager and be responsible for supporting procedures and systems for certification to ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
Key Responsibilities
- To promote a positive safety culture and be a champion of standards interacting with internal and external personnel to deliver.
- A role model promoting process industry Health and Safety best practice on the site.
- Interaction with relevant regulatory organisations.
- Take the lead in all Health and Safety legislative and regulatory matters, liaising with all the necessary organisations.
- Interaction with and reporting to Divisional EHS consistent with procedures.
- Responsible for supporting line management in the day to day Health and Safety conformance, driving continuous improvement and ensuring through the line management that all standards are upheld.
- Providing support to the Environmental Manager, particularly focused on site operations ensuring the application of the EHS Management systems and Policies of BYK UK.
- To own, manage and continue to develop procedures and systems for certification to ISO 45001.
- To support procedures and systems for certification to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 as required.
- A champion of near miss and incident reporting, while providing coaching for first line investigation and closure.
- Audit and review will be a key part of this role ensuring adherence to all relevant Health and Safety procedures including Permit to Work (PTW), Management of Change (MOC) and be an integral part of the Internal audit team.
- Support and oversight of the maintenance function in developing and managing internal Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) for all internal activities.
- A point of contact when questions arise on all site Health and Safety related situations, making decisions and ensuring clarity on proposed courses of action.
- Support emergency response simulation and reporting.
- An attendee and guiding lead in the Site Safety Committee.
- Lead a Contractor Health and Safety Review for all long standing third party personnel.
- The ability to train and coach colleagues on Health and Safety procedures and systems.
