Job Overview

Zachary Daniels, an international design and manufacturing organisation with a strong reputation in various industries, seeks an experienced Group HSE Manager to join their leadership team. Based on the outskirts of Glasgow, this role will focus on advancing the UK HSE function.

About the Role

This challenging position involves working closely with the Global HSE Director, providing expert advice, coaching, and support to all employees on HSE requirements and best practices. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with current UK HSE legislation, conducting risk assessments, and chairing monthly HSE meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the company adheres to relevant UK HSE legislation.
  • Maintain awareness of legislative changes and implement updates as necessary.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to mitigate safety and health hazards.
  • Participate in accident and near-miss investigations, documenting findings.
  • Chair monthly HSE meetings with site management and employee representatives.
  • Engage in general day-to-day activities, such as reports and briefs, to enhance site safety.
  • Develop and implement environmental strategies, including carbon reduction plans.
  • Lead site efforts for safety improvements.
  • Design and deliver HSE training sessions.
  • Flexibility to provide HSE support to other UK sites, with occasional travel required.
Requirements
  • NEBOSH diploma or post-graduate degree in Health, Safety & Environmental.
  • CMIOSH certification.
  • Experience working in heavy engineering environments.
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar role, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools, specifically problem-solving.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all organisational levels.
  • Experience working with external authorities.
  • Thorough understanding of Safety and Environmental standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • A sound grasp of current and relevant HSE legislation.
