Mechanical Process Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Process Operator to join our team at Tarmac's Tunstead Cement Plant in Derbyshire. As a key member of our shift team, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the automated performance of our pre-heater, kiln feeder, rotary kiln burner, calciner, exhaust gases, emissions, and cooler processes.
Key Responsibilities- Comply with all safety and environmental regulations, including lockout procedures and emergency management.
- Perform maintenance duties on shift as required, including first-level maintenance support.
- Adhere to site and company H&S rules and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, reporting any poor practices.
- Operate mobile plant, including shovels, cranes, FLT, and telehandler vehicles.
- Review equipment and production conditions, monitoring and reporting any incidents or abnormalities.
- Conduct first-level inspections, systematically inspecting and monitoring plant equipment, and accurately reporting any abnormalities.
- Support root cause analysis and propose improvement actions.
- Ensure lubrication levels of machines are in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
- Accurately measure and report stock levels, ensuring additives and raw materials are available at designated areas.
- Manually start standby equipment, ensuring proper operation or stopping equipment and reporting any abnormalities.
- Provide assistance to mechanical and electrical areas, contributing to achieving shift team targets and goals.
- Ensure log sheets are accurately updated, maintained, and stored as required.
- Level 3 Apprentice-trained or ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (QBE is essential).
- Relevant experience in a similar heavy industrial or chemical plant environment.
- Working knowledge of production processes and analysis.
- Commitment to H&S and Environmental policies.
- Able to actively identify and implement site and process improvements.
- An analytical mind with a focus on driving cost savings.
- High-level operational IT skills, including Microsoft and Excel packages.
