Key Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Strategic HR Director to lead the UK HR function. You will foster a positive work environment, drive employee engagement, and support business goals through strategic HR initiatives.

The HR director will oversee approximately employees across 3 locations in the UK, directly managing the UK HR team in a fast-paced people-driven business environment. This part-time role requires working hours over 4 days per week.

The role includes:

  • Managing the execution of the HR Strategy across the talent management cycle to achieve objectives.
  • Leading core HR departmental areas, including payroll, employee relations, HR administration, learning and development, recruitment, and onboarding.
  • Providing guidance and direction to the HR team on work priorities, budget, and staff resources, as well as strategic, policy, organizational, and staff management issues.
  • Implementing employment policies, ensuring they align with employment law and HR best practices.
  • Driving equity, inclusion, diversity, and building staff communities.
  • Improving engagement and welfare activities, maximizing productivity, delegating HR responsibilities to line managers, and building leadership capability.
  • Identifying HR trends to address key issues and allocate resources.
  • Engaging effectively with the UK Board, senior leaders, and line/team managers across a matrix and hybrid business operating across 3 UK sites and internationally.
  • Managing the allocation of HR budgets.
  • Overseeing Health and Safety within the UK business, flagging areas of risk to the Ecorys UK Board.
  • Maintaining current regulation compliance, including professional standards, policies, procedures, and legislation (including data protection, the Equality Act, and health and safety).
  • Collaborating with HR functions globally to drive global people initiatives and KPIs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience leading a HR function with budgetary control.
  • Formal CIPD qualification to diploma, degree, or Master's level.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice, with the ability to translate this into HR business plans.
  • Ability to produce reports, analyze, and present statistical information/data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent customer service and problem-solving skills working with confidentiality, diplomacy, and cultural awareness.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiating skills supporting line managers through change.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize own workload and that of the team.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a proactive approach.

We offer a highly competitive benefits package, including variable pay (bonus), private healthcare, share scheme, and buying/selling annual leave. The estimated salary for this position is £60,000-£80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
