Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Respiratory Physician to join our team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert care to patients with respiratory conditions and will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • To provide specialist care to patients with respiratory conditions, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of chronic respiratory diseases.
  • To work closely with our respiratory physiologists, lung cancer specialist nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • To participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of respiratory care policies and procedures.
  • To provide education and training to medical students, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification.
  • SCE in respiratory medicine.
  • GMC Registration.
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for both Respiratory and General Internal Medicine via one of the following: a) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
  • Satisfactory training in and General Internal Medicine.
  • Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate education.
  • Wide knowledge of Respiratory and General Internal Medicine. Able to give expert opinion.
  • Independent Bronchoscopy and pleural skills including ultrasound.
