About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our Paediatric Recovery From Illness team. As an Assistant Psychologist, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing psychological support to children and young people with long-term conditions, and to their families.

Main Responsibilities

You will be responsible for delivering psychological support to children and young people within an MDT context. This will include developing individual plans and resources, providing training and advice on the psychological needs of children and young people with chronic symptoms, and supporting the team to assess the effectiveness of interventions.

Working with the Team

You will work closely with the lead Clinical Psychologist and be part of the wider Child Psychology Department. The team will adopt a collaborative approach, working with colleagues from Paediatrics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Dietetics to support children, young people, and families.

Person Specification

We are looking for a graduate member of the BPS, with a good psychology degree and knowledge of psychological and mental health issues for children and young people in paediatric or surgical settings. You will also have experience of working with children and families, and as an Assistant Psychologist or similar role.

What We Offer

We offer a supportive and friendly network of psychologists working with babies, children, and families. You will have opportunities for professional training and development, and be part of a team that is committed to equality and diversity.
