Job Title: Research Grants Officer

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Research Grants Officer to join our team at The Brain Tumour Charity. As a key member of our Research team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the effective delivery of our Research Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with all aspects of pre and post award grant management, ensuring timely and accurate processing of grants.
  • Support the Research team in implementing our strategic goals and research strategy, including undertaking research-related projects as requested by the Chief Scientific Officer.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of our research management database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of grants and research activities.
  • Liaise with researchers, assessment panels, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth grant application, monitoring, and review processes.
  • Monitor the progress of current grants, reviewing annual reports and engaging with funded researchers to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Perform financial monitoring of awarded grants, maintaining accurate records of expenditure and ensuring compliance with charity policies and procedures.
  • Respond to enquiries about our funded research, research strategy, and calls for applications from researchers, the general public, and colleagues within the charity.
  • Assist in ensuring the scientific accuracy of internal and external communications around the research programme, including feedback letters, mail outs, newsletters, website content, and press releases.
Requirements:
  • A degree in a life science or medical discipline.
  • Proven experience of working with databases and spreadsheets, with a strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Awareness of grant making processes and the charity sector.
  • Excellent eye for detail, with the ability to work accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to deliver to strict deadlines.
  • Achievement orientated, with a strong desire to contribute to the success of our research programme.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and with a variety of people.
