Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Whittington Health is seeking a highly skilled Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and innovative integrated therapy team. As part of this role, you will work closely with Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy services to deliver an enhanced support package in mainstream primary and secondary schools. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Occupational Therapist to upskill and train school staff and parents, improving the lives and outcomes for children and young people.
Main Duties
• Lead and develop innovative therapy services that support integrated clinical care pathways.
• Develop a new Universal core training offer to mainstream schools to meet sensory and motor based needs of children and young people.
• Work closely with Pathway Leads and actively design and implement service development projects across schools.
• Maintain a clinical caseload of children and young people in mainstream schools, working as an autonomous practitioner within own specialist area.
• Develop effective and evidence-based interventions, including targeted programmes, while working collaboratively with teaching staff.
• Organise and prioritise own workload across the service.

Person Specification
• NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy.
• Masters level modules or equivalent courses in speciality.
• HCPC registration (desirable).
• Advanced knowledge of the evidence base of rehabilitation relating to specialist area.
• Excellent specific therapy assessment and treatment skills in field of specialism utilising a range of approaches.
• Ability to independently manage own and others clinical caseload and prioritise as required.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills with all disciplines and agencies.
• Clear, concise verbal and written reporting skills.
• Excellent presentation skills of complex information.
• IT skills including word processing and excel.
• Awareness of NHS Plan, NSF, and clinical governance priorities.
• Appropriate assessment tools for this client group.
• Current issues in the delivery of community-based services.
• Sound understanding of confidentiality.
• Previous NHS experience (desirable).
• Ability to respond to pressure appropriately.
• Flexible approach to work.
