About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Education Mental Health Practitioner to join our Mental Health Support Team. The successful candidate will work closely with schools and other stakeholders to provide early intervention and preventative services for children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of how to work with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties, as well as knowledge of the educational system in England. They will also have experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families, and assessing and meeting the communication needs of schools to deliver psycho-education on mental health or emotional wellbeing.

The Mental Health Support Team is a dynamic and innovative service that aims to improve access to mental health support and services for children and young people in Nottingham City. We work in partnership with schools and other wellbeing services to develop a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a range of services, including individual and group interventions, training and workshops for schools and parents, and consultation to schools on mental health and wellbeing. They will also work closely with other members of the team to develop and implement a comprehensive mental health strategy for the city.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and young people, and who has the skills and experience to deliver high-quality services to support their mental health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties
  • Provide training and workshops for schools and parents on mental health and wellbeing
  • Consult with schools on mental health and wellbeing
  • Work closely with other members of the team to develop and implement a comprehensive mental health strategy for the city

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of how to work with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
  • Knowledge of the educational system in England
  • Experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families
  • Experience of assessing and meeting the communication needs of schools to deliver psycho-education on mental health or emotional wellbeing
