We are currently seeking a dedicated Civil Liberties Specialist to join their team. This exciting opportunity involves conducting a mixed caseload of complaints against public authorities, judicial reviews, inquests, and injustices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil liberties work, with experience in claimant litigation and a good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules. If you are a motivated and ambitious individual looking to make a difference, we encourage you to apply.

This role offers a competitive salary package of £55,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also benefit from a supportive team environment and opportunities for professional growth and development.

About the Role:

  • Undertake supervised casework and support other lawyers in the department
  • Prepare cases for court hearings and conferences
  • Take instructions from clients and witnesses
  • Research legal precedents and advise on case strategy
  • Manage a varied caseload of inquest work, complaints against public authorities, and pre and post-issue claimant litigation

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Report directly to Department Director
  2. Pro-actively manage client relationships and provide exceptional client care
  3. Develop and implement effective case strategies
  4. Maintain accurate records and files
  5. Collaborate with counsel and other legal professionals

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Solicitor or Legal Executive with 2+ years PQE in Civil Liberties work
  • Experience working on publicly funded cases (CW1/Legal Help and Licensed/Certificated Work) and working with CCMS
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge and practical experience of applications for judicial review
  • Effective organisational ability, able to work under pressure
