A leading law firm seeks a dedicated Civil Liberties Solicitor for a permanent position, offering training contracts for those with relevant experience.

About the role:

You will undertake a mixed caseload of complaints against public authorities, civil claims, judicial reviews, inquests, and injustices. The department has been expanding steadily and attracts high-profile and interesting work.

As a successful candidate, you will conduct supervised casework and support other lawyers in the department. You will be involved in case preparation, conducting legal research, taking proofs of evidence from clients and witnesses, and attending court hearings and conferences.

Key responsibilities include reporting directly to the Department Director, managing a caseload, supervising a small team, making CCMS applications, attending clients, briefing counsel, negotiating with defendants, and dealing with correspondence.

Main requirements:

  • Solicitor or Legal Executive with 2+ years PQE in Civil Liberties work
  • Experience working on publicly funded cases and CCMS
  • Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience of the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Effective organisational ability, able to work under pressure
