The Residential Childcare Specialist role with SGS Care Ltd involves providing exceptional care and support to children in a residential setting. This includes ensuring the physical, intellectual, emotional, psychological, and social needs of children are met consistently to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering high-quality care and support, and will be able to work effectively on a shift pattern, including days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleeping-in duties, subject to risk assessment – lone working.

A key aspect of the role is implementing admission protocols to ensure children feel welcomed and informed, working closely with children to ascertain their wishes and feelings, and engaging children in developmentally appropriate activities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for improving the lives of children and young people in care, establishing caring, secure relationships with children, and fulfilling tasks outlined in care plans within agreed timescales.

The Residential Childcare Specialist will work closely with other members of the team to deliver a comprehensive service that meets the needs of children and young people. They will be expected to undertake direct work with young people and act as a role model, meeting health, education, and training needs of children, and engaging them in the role of a key worker.
