We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Specialist School in York. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with Autism, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist teachers in creating and implementing personalized learning plans, ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to plan and deliver engaging lessons, activities, and interventions that cater to the diverse needs of students with Autism.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, providing support and guidance to students and colleagues as needed.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and adapt to the changing needs of students and the school.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality support and promoting the well-being and success of students with Autism.
