About the Role

North East London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Locality Clinical Lead for Mental Health Support Teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our dedicated team to provide high-quality mental health services to children and young people in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the assessment, formulation, and intervention plans for children, young people, and families/carers being supported by our Mental Health Support Teams.
  • Work in partnership with schools to support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working towards agreed goals.
  • Undertake accurate assessments of risk to self and others.
  • Design, adapt, and modify clinical materials to meet the needs of different clinical populations.
  • Provide joint specialist mental health assessments and interventions for schools, parents, and children with our EMHP supervisees.
  • Support the strategic and practical development of our Mental Health Support Initiative within the service and wider children's mental health system.
Person Specification
  • Hold a current and in-date core professional registration in Clinical/Educational/Counselling Psychologist, CBT Therapist, or Family Therapist.
  • Professional training in an evidence-based therapeutic approach applicable to working with children, young people, and families.
  • High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of evidence-based psychological interventions, including CBT, and experience in responding to safeguarding concerns.
  • Minimum two years post-qualification experience and experience of supervising CYPMHS clinicians and trainees.
  • Experience of working with children, young people, and their parents/carers presenting with a range of mental health difficulties and challenging behavior.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of working with other agencies outside of the NHS, e.g., schools.
  • Experience of whole school approaches to emotional wellbeing and mental health.
