About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at North Hertfordshire College. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to students with SEND, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver outstanding teaching and learning, including the use of specialist assistive technology.
  • Support students with personal care, mobility, and medication administration, as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of individualized Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and support plans.
  • Attend curriculum events and course meetings to ensure a collaborative approach to student support.

Requirements

  • Experience working with vulnerable young people, including those with Neurodiversity and Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate others.
  • High levels of personal integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to adapt and develop creative methods to engage young people.
  • Self-motivation and a proactive approach to utilizing personal initiative within a structured framework.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) policies and SEND legislation.
