Job Title: Specialist Study Skills Support Tutor

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Study Skills Support Tutor to join our team at Randstad Student Support. As a Specialist Study Skills Support Tutor, you will play a vital role in providing personalized academic support and guidance to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) studying at Universities and/or Colleges in Lancaster.

About the Role:

This is a hybrid role that requires flexibility to work with students both in-person and online. You will be responsible for developing customized learning plans to meet the specific needs of each student, fostering their independence in learning. Your role will involve:

  • Providing one-to-one support to students with SpLDs
  • Developing and implementing personalized learning plans
  • Supporting students to develop independence, build on strengths, and create strategies for organization and time management
  • Assisting students in creating action plans to stay on track with their studies
  • Helping students to develop research skills, including finding and using a variety of sources
  • Supporting students to distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate sources and how to correctly use references
  • Assisting students to improve their comprehension skills in reading and writing
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must hold membership with one of the following professional bodies:

  • British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
  • Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE)
  • Dyslexia Guild
  • The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)

Desirable skills include:

  • Experience of working with clients with specific learning difficulties
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload of students
