Consultant Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Adult Mental Health Service at our Low Secure Unit in Liverpool. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of 16 male inpatients and will lead on the assessment of individuals referred for admission from various sources.
The post holder will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, complete statutory reports, and exercise statutory responsibilities as a Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983. They will also be expected to be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 for the purposes of recommending admission to hospital and be an Approved Clinician.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of 16 male inpatients within the Low Secure Unit.
- Lead on the assessment of individuals referred for admission from various sources, including other secure services, general adult services, courts, or prisons.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and complete statutory reports.
- Exercise statutory responsibilities as a Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983.
- Be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 for the purposes of recommending admission to hospital and be an Approved Clinician.
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
- Holds and will use a valid UK driving licence or provides evidence of proposed alternative.
- Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
- Participated in continuous professional development.
- Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes.
- Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
- Experienced in clinical research and/or service evaluation.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
