About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Mentor to join our Specialist Provision team at MidKent College. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to achieve their goals and develop essential life skills.

Main Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver workshops tailored to the individual needs of learners with additional needs, focusing on exam skills, social skills, study skills, life skills, and employability skills.
  • Work closely with the Additional Learning Support Team to plan and deliver extra-curricular activities that meet the specified outcomes of learners with EHCPs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized learning plans, ensuring that learners receive the necessary support to achieve their goals.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of the Specialist Provision team.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in working with learners with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meet the needs of the service.
  • Compliance with and understanding of all aspects of legislation and College policies and processes relating to safeguarding, including promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
  • Compliance with, understanding, and promotion of statutory and college best practice in Health & Safety and GDPR.
