Job Title: Chef

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team at Avante Care & Support's Chaucer House in Canterbury, Kent.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a dedicated team of kitchen staff to deliver high-quality meals and snacks.
  • Plan menus in consultation with the Home Manager, residents, and care staff, taking into account ethnic origins and religious convictions.
  • Provide supervision, direction, and training to all kitchen staff, ensuring all food hygiene and health & safety regulations are observed.
  • Prepare and cook meals and snacks from fresh, frozen, and pre-packed ingredients.
  • Check deliveries against all orders placed, together with stock control.
Essential Experience/Skills:
  • Experience of running a catering service, including team management skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues involved in catering for the elderly, including their special dietary requirements.
  • Environmental Health Certificate in Food Hygiene.
  • Relevant Level 2 food/catering qualification and willingness to undertake the Level 3 qualification within three months of starting the role.
Desirable Experience/Skills:
  • A good understanding of different cultural and ethnic traditions with regard to catering.
