About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Protection and Control Engineer to join our team at SSE Enterprise. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing protection and control systems for our electrical networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing scoping documentation and Main Connections & Protection Diagrams (MC&P) for our electrical networks.
  • Reviewing and approving protection and control designs developed by third-party contractors.
  • Specifying and procuring protection and control equipment and plant, including relays, CTs, and VTs.
  • Producing detailed designs, including AC/DC schematics, for our electrical networks.
  • Carrying out protection grading studies and producing relay files and settings.
  • Reviewing and approving commissioning plans and attending commissioning panel meetings.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field, such as electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on electrical distribution networks, preferably in the UK, with a strong understanding of protection and control systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of protection relays and relay panels, CT and VT sizing calculations, protection grading studies, and detailed and accurate AC/DC drawings.
  • Knowledge of UK electrical practices and standards, including CDM regulations.
  • A high regard for safety and the ability to demonstrate experience of risk mitigation.
