Job Summary

As a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, you will play a key role in the 'Making aid work for displaced women' UKRI FLF research initiative. This interdisciplinary project aims to better understand how Islamic philanthropy can be leveraged to improve humanitarian work and address the complex needs of displaced women.

Main Duties
  • Conduct semi-structured literature reviews and contribute to stakeholder mapping and policy analysis.
  • Collect research data through various research methods, including scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews and focus group discussions.
  • Collaborate with local researchers and community partners through a co-production methodology.
  • Develop new frameworks, research methods, and tools, and effectively analyze and interpret primary data.

This role will significantly support the implementation of the 'Making aid work for displaced women' initiative, with a focus on research, administration, and policy engagement. You will work closely with the project team to develop innovative solutions to support displaced women.

Person Specification
  • Excellent knowledge of gender and forced migration, (faith) humanitarianism.
  • A higher degree relevant to the research area or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in data collection in cooperation with local partners in the UK and Global South through co-production methodologies.
