Health and Safety Professional

We are seeking a proactive and analytical Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Michael Smith Recruitment. The successful candidate will ensure that Health and Safety remains a key priority across all areas, supporting continuous improvement, and aiming for an accident-free, safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation, keeping up to date with developments and ensuring company compliance.
- Train line managers and other relevant personnel in respect of legislative requirements.
- Ensure employees can perform their duties in a safe environment, protected from hazards, taking direct action to prevent potential accidents or incidents.
- Analyse statistics to identify underlying trends and patterns.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments in all areas and on all machinery and equipment.
- Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (Nebosh or NVQ) or equivalent.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety management improvement systems & techniques.
- Ability to research and understand Health and Safety legislation and guidelines.
- Experience producing risk assessments and carrying out H&S audits.
- Previous experience liaising with regulators, such as HSENI.
- Knowledge and experience of working with ISO 45001.
- People management experience.
- Experience interacting with insurers regarding liability claims.
