Role Profile

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team as a Senior Pharmacy Technician at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for leading the management of Controlled Drugs (CDs) at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and supporting the Senior Technician in Procurement daily to manage the Pharmacy Purchasing service.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the management of Controlled Drugs (CDs) at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital
* Investigate and resolve stock and computer discrepancies
* Organize and facilitate CD stock balance checks and destruction
* Provide training to pharmacy staff
* Support the Senior Technician in Procurement daily to manage the Pharmacy Purchasing service
* Accurately dispense prescriptions for patients
* Liaise with medical and nursing staff when clarification is required
* Answer the telephone and deal with queries regarding work in progress

Requirements

BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
* Professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Experience working in a busy hospital pharmacy environment within a team
* Evidence of managing own workload to meet the needs of a service
* Excellent IT skills including Microsoft applications
* Ability to make sound judgments where there are a range of options
* Demonstrable attention to detail and ability to unpick complex discrepancies
* Ability to concentrate for prolonged periods when subject to changing working patterns
* Knowledge and clear understanding of Good Distribution Practice, and other relevant regulations, guidance and quality standards

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits including a pension scheme, life assurance, and annual leave.
