Job Summary

We are seeking a Literacy Program Assistant to support Poetry Groups in libraries as part of the CLaY project, focusing on adult wellbeing. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause, while developing your leadership and creative skills.

You will work closely with our library partners, developing and delivering engaging poetry sessions, incorporating various styles and techniques. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build strong relationships with library staff, volunteers, and community members.

This role requires a patient, empathetic, and supportive individual who can foster a positive and inclusive environment for participants. If you are passionate about literacy, creativity, and community development, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Poetry Groups in libraries, promoting a supportive and inclusive environment
  • Assist in developing and delivering engaging poetry sessions, incorporating various styles and techniques
  • Collaborate with library staff and other volunteers to plan and coordinate group activities
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to participants, fostering a positive and inclusive environment

Requirements:

  • Strong social and communication skills, with experience working with diverse groups
  • Patience, empathy, and a willingness to support individuals with varying needs
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks
  • Basic knowledge of poetry and creative writing techniques
  • Commitment of at least 2 hours per week

Salary: £11.50-£12.00 per hour, based on the national living wage
