Job Title: Head of Mechanical & Piping

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Mechanical & Piping to join our team at OLG Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the mechanical and piping department, overseeing the execution of work, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects within the required timescale and budget.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the mechanical and piping department, overseeing the execution of work and ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects.
  2. Manage BID processes, including tendering and cost estimation.
  3. Monitor staff requirements and attract and retain talent through effective recruitment, mentoring, and training.
  4. Ensure the delivery of projects to the required quality, timescale, and budget.
  5. Monitor the performance of personnel within the department and ensure the continuity of design methods.
  6. Develop and implement training programs for department personnel.
  7. Initiate, review, and approve routine performance appraisals.
  8. Demonstrate customer focus and technical expertise.
  9. Ensure the adherence to OLG Engineering procedures, specifications, standards, and technical guidance.
  10. Review and approve timesheets, holidays, and expenses for departmental personnel.
  11. Collaborate with other departments, including fabrication and operations teams.
  12. Undertake inspection reports and constructability reviews.
  13. Act as the client's engineer and technical authority.
  14. Provide technical support to the project group.
  15. Attend internal review activities and inter-discipline check meetings.

Key Skills and Competencies:
  1. Evidence of work-winning experience.
  2. Experience of working in a multi-discipline environment and an EPC environment.
  3. Ability to estimate design and engineering hours and fabrication and installation budgets.
  4. Proven track record of building and retaining dynamic engineering teams.
  5. Proficient in design using tools such as Autocad Plant 3D, creation of cats and specs, Navisworks Manage / Clash detection, and chairing model reviews.
  6. Good working knowledge of ASME codes B31.3 / 4, standards, and specifications.
  7. Minimum of 10-15 years post-graduate training.
  8. Chartered with IMechE with a design engineering bias.
  9. Accepts ownership, is accountable, and delivers on commitments.
  10. Self-motivated with no supervision, but works effectively as part of a multi-discipline team.
  11. Technical Expert.
  12. Business driven.
