Welfare Rights Advocate Lead

Nucleus Legal Advice Centre is a dynamic and vibrant organization based in West Ealing, London. We provide specialist welfare benefits advice through an innovative Advice Consortium of 12 local charities.
We are looking for a Welfare Rights Advocate Lead to help provide access to benefits advice services and maintain a benefits case load. The successful candidate will assist clients in accessing services, taking control of their future, and maximizing opportunities to prevent or relieve benefits issues.
The role involves taking a casework approach to meet the needs of clients, undertaking representation at courts and appeal tribunals, and actively participating with statutory and non-profit organizations to resolve benefits issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Taking a lead role in developing casework and supporting volunteer advisers' work
- Helping to advise clients on benefit issues, including PIP, Universal Credit, Capability for Work assessments, Benefit Eligibility, and Housing Benefit
- Supporting queries through the Advice Line and supervising volunteers
- Providing insight into the benefit system and support systems to empower individuals
Requirements:
- More than 2 years of experience in providing benefits/welfare rights advice and casework
- Experience of successfully challenging decisions up to tribunal levels and preferably upper tribunal level
- Possibly experience and knowledge of another area of social welfare law
- Knowledge and experience of casework in benefits advice using various channels
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team without close supervision.
