Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Volunteer Sewing Coordinator to support our team in delivering sewing activities for female adults who have experienced modern slavery. The ideal candidate will have experience with sewing machines and be able to teach service users various skills.

The successful candidate will work alongside staff members to deliver activities, engaging with service users in a trauma-informed way. They will also help coordinate sewing tasks, ensuring safe use of equipment and teaching patterns.

This role requires maturity and the ability to build strong relationships with service users. You should have a good understanding of human trafficking issues and mental health conditions, or be willing to learn.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver sewing activities to female adults who have experienced modern slavery
  • Teach service users various sewing skills, including safe use of equipment and pattern-making
  • Coordinate sewing tasks, ensuring activities run smoothly and safely
  • Work alongside staff members to deliver activities, engaging with service users in a trauma-informed way

The salary for this role is £12-£15 per hour, dependent on experience. This rate is based on national averages for similar roles in Southampton.
