Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care as the first point of contact for children and young adults with all types of health needs. Working autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals, you will assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans, ensuring safe and effective care delivery within the hospice and NMC policies and guidelines.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner within your sphere of competence, accountable for your professional actions.
  2. Assess, diagnose, interpret investigations, and treat children and young adults with complex needs.
  3. Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide quality evidence-based healthcare, meeting the immediate needs of patients.
  4. Contribute to the assessment of care needs and development, implementation, and evaluation of care programs.
  5. Teach and support junior staff, promoting competency assessments and sign-offs.
Clinical Leadership

You will demonstrate clinical expertise and experience, contributing to service improvements and developing services within the hospice and wider health and social care economies. Your role will involve:

  1. Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, integrating drug and non-drug-based treatment methods.
  2. Ensuring timely referrals to services for patients' health needs.
  3. Prescribing and reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness.
  4. Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous records.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you should hold:

  • A registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • An MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice qualification.
  • An Independent & Supplementary Prescriber qualification.
  • Registration with NHSBSA as a Prescriber.
  • Clinical Examination and Diagnostics Level 7.

Our ideal candidate will have experience working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in a ward environment, with relevant experience caring for children or young people with complex care needs and disability. You should also have experience of holistic assessment and individualized planning of care, as well as effective collaborative working with professionals from other agencies and disciplines.
