The International Union for Conservation of Nature seeks a seasoned Financial Controller to lead its financial operations in Cambridge, UK. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the financial accountability of TRAFFIC International, including producing reliable and timely consolidated financial reports.

As Financial Controller, you will oversee the consolidation of financial information from overseas offices and outposted staff positions with that of the TRAFFIC International UK charity for incorporation into statutory accounts. You will also monitor the financial performance of a combined income portfolio of £12 million annually.

Key responsibilities include managing a team of finance staff based in Cambridge, providing functional management of finance staff in overseas offices, and mentoring finance and administrative staff in Cambridge and TRAFFIC more widely. You will also lead the development and implementation of sound financial and administrative policies, procedures, and systems in TRAFFIC.

Additional responsibilities include overseeing the financial status of TRAFFIC offices, developing consolidated analyses of the current and future financial status of the TRAFFIC International charity, and assessing key areas of financial risk across the organisation. You will also be responsible for preparing consolidated TRAFFIC management accounts and regular consolidated financial management reports for submission to the UK Charity Trustees and their Operations Committee.

This role requires a recognised completed accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA CIPFA) and several years of relevant and proven work experience in a similar finance role. A strong understanding of UK charity accounting and relevant legislation is essential, as well as experience in overseeing financial management of restricted funding and application of cost recovery models.

A salary of approximately £62,500 per annum is offered for this position, which includes 50% hybrid working. The role is located in Cambridge, UK, and the successful candidate will be required to travel to overseas TRAFFIC offices on limited occasions.
