Academic Training Programme Director

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating the training of medical professionals across the region. This involves ensuring that national standards, as determined by Royal Colleges, the GMC, and NHS-E WT&E, are implemented locally. To be successful in this role, you must be currently working within the East Midlands area at consultant level or equivalent, including SAS doctors in the specialty school area. Experience within the specialty at consultant or SAS doctor level is essential, as is considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work with the Head of School to produce doctors who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development.
  • Ensure that training programmes are aligned with national standards and best practices.
  • Develop and implement training strategies to meet the needs of our learners.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure a cohesive approach to medical education.

Requirements
  • Current clinical commitment in the School/specialty.
  • Considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context.
  • Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection, and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years.
  • Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, related NHS organisations, and regulatory bodies.
  • Understanding of the workforce transformation agenda.
Qualifications and Training
  • Primary clinical healthcare qualification.
  • Currently working at consultant level or equivalent in the specialty school area.
  • Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association, and be registered with the regulatory body.

Depending on experience, salary paid in line with TPD sessional payments.
