Operations Team Leader

Join Smiths News, the UK's largest news wholesaler, as an Operations Team Leader and play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse departments.

About the Role

As an Operations Team Leader, you will be responsible for planning and resourcing the warehouse operation to ensure pack accuracy of our products and efficient management of products to the department. You will supervise the Warehouse Operatives, providing training, coaching and working with Management teams to identify training needs as well as potential risks in our operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and resource the warehouse operation to ensure pack accuracy and efficient product management
  • Supervise Warehouse Operatives, providing training and coaching to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively
  • Work with Management teams to identify training needs and potential risks in the operation
  • Ensure a high level of health and safety, compliance with company policy and transport legislation is adhered to at all times

About You

We are looking for an experienced Operations Team Leader who has a track record of managing large operations and has the ability to liaise at all levels. You will have:

  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment, preferably from a 24/7 logistics, warehouse, FMCG or similar industry background
  • Experience managing a large operation and the ability to liaise at all levels
  • Outstanding communication skills and the credibility to effectively build relationships with all team members and management
  • Experience of planning and effectively executing a warehouse operation. Dealing with all issues and challenges as they arise
