Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Residential Worker to join our team at Renfrewshire Council. As a Senior Residential Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring the wellbeing of residents by supervising, maintaining and developing the standards of care within the House.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support a team of care staff to deliver high-quality care to residents
  • Maintain and develop the standards of care within the House, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
  • Participate in direct care activities, including report writing and preparing care plans
  • Ensure the highest level of Child Care Practice and use appropriate methods and techniques of Social Work intervention to meet the needs of residents
  • Hold a SVQ 3 and HNC in Social Care or an equivalent qualification at SCQF Level 6 (SCQF)
  • Have the potential to achieve SVQ Level 4 in Social Care
  • Experience of working directly with children in a residential setting, report writing, and preparing care plans
  • Knowledge and understanding of National Care Standards, childcare practice, legislation and SSSC code of practice
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Ability to carry out restraints, deal with stressful situations, manage a client group with a range of emotions, lead and supervise a team, organise and delegate tasks, motivate others and ensure a safe and secure environment for looked after children
  • A flexible approach to work, including working shifts and covering for other staff
  • Registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or achieve registration within 6 months of appointment
  • A driving licence and knowledge of child development are desirable

Requirements

  • SVQ 3 and HNC in Social Care or an equivalent qualification at SCQF Level 6 (SCQF)
  • Potential to achieve SVQ Level 4 in Social Care
  • Experience of working directly with children in a residential setting
  • Report writing and preparing care plans
  • Knowledge and understanding of National Care Standards, childcare practice, legislation and SSSC code of practice
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Ability to carry out restraints, deal with stressful situations, manage a client group with a range of emotions, lead and supervise a team, organise and delegate tasks, motivate others and ensure a safe and secure environment for looked after children
