Health and Safety Officer

McElroy Resourcing is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience and be NEBOSH qualified.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, including manual handling, COSHH, and fire prevention.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and applicable laws to reduce and prevent hazards, dangers, and accidents.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implement corrective actions, and update documentation.
  • Act as a point of contact for external bodies in relation to all Health and Safety matters.
  • Promote a positive safety and compliance culture across the site.
  • Oversee health programs, including routine hearing examinations.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with relevant data presented.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations related to Health and Safety.
  • Identify training needs in line with department managers.
  • Develop training programs, creating and implementing effective training programs that align with the company's goals.
  • Coordinate and execute induction and job-specific training for all new colleagues and provide ongoing training for all colleagues.
Essential Criteria:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or minimum 3 years' experience in a relevant role.
  • Professional certification in NEBOSH or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in Health and Safety within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant UK Health and Safety regulations.
  • Experience in the coordination and delivery of training.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
