Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. This role will be based in Warton and will involve working on the Eurofighter Typhoon Avionics Joint Team (AJT).

About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity for a highly skilled individual to provide technical leadership and support to the AJT team. The successful candidate will have strong systems engineering experience, particularly in the aerospace or defence sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse new and emerging customer requirements and provide safety and avionic scoping, along with feasibility analysis for all main sub-systems teams.
  • Coordinate reviews of provided requirements, including Customer Statements of Requirements (SOR) or EF System Requirements Documents (SRD), to identify initial customer needs.
  • Coordinate initial safety assessments of design changes, highlighting particular areas of concern and likely hazards, need for Weapon System Preliminary Hazard Analysis (WS PHA).
  • Coordinate initial technical assessments of Customer Business Cases (BC) to identify and document overall scope, impact of changes, and potential solutions.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A degree in a STEM subject (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • Strong proven experience in requirements capture and management, particularly in the aerospace or defence sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal, with the ability to build and sustain effective relationships with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Proven ability to write formal project documentation.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is £47,683 - £52,426 depending on experience.
